We ALL worry… sometimes we worry about things that really do matter, but If I can be real with you… many times we worry about things that are just not that big of a deal. Our minds and hearts are all too often captivated by nicer cars, nicer clothes, nicer houses, what school our kids will get into, will they make the travel team, will they be popular, and the list goes on and on! And there is nothing wrong with ONE of these things in and of themselves…
I got a call from a dear friend of mine last night and I haven’t stopped thinking about the conversation since. Up late, thinking about his family, praying and crying for my friends suffering. It’s the kind of suffering I wish upon nobody, and would take it away from my friend if I could.
He just found out the baby he and his wife are expecting in November may have some serious problems. So serious that they will have to prepare for the fact that until November they are not certain this baby will live, and without a bona fide miracle from God if the baby lives they will have problems most of us couldn’t fathom! I have been reminded this morning of what really matter in this life! I know what it’s like to have all of life come down to the simple things… faith, family, and love!
This morning a video caught my eye and it tells an amazing story that I would love to share with you… watch it to the very end because I believe it has a profound message from one of the people in the video… enjoy and get your kleenex ready : )
Tonight as I spoke to my friend, and attempted to enter his pain and suffering, I was reminded that so many of the things I have been worrying about are just pathetic little things that really don’t matter! Enjoy your day and try not to worry about the small stuff… Jesus said not to worry and even added, “which one of you can add a single hour to your life by worrying?”(Matt 6:27)
May we all come to grips with those things we worry about that don’t amount to much, and focus on the things that really do matter in this life and the life to come. God… grant us this wisdom!
Peace and Blessing
